Write for me

I want Voice for teens to be useful and informative for all teens. For this to happen I need articles from you.

You don't have to be a perfect writer. Can't have you being better at it than me anyway because I'm the Editor! Just be like me and write from the heart.

Write a question about an issue in your life, tell other teenagers through this e-zine how you have overcome issues in your life. Feel free to celebrate your successes, or just spill your guts.

If you're worried about it being relevant - don't be. send it in to me anyway.

I will attempt to make the e-zine hang together by grouping articles on similar topics together. I ask in return that you critique it for me.

Tell me what works and what doesn't.

If I don't give you enough information tell me.

If I give you too much tell me.

If I come across as patronising tell me.

I won't be offended, you will be helping me to provide a better product for it's readers.

Why not help me to help other teenagers.

Let's pool our knowledge of both the issues and the solutions.

If we ever encounter an issue that we can't find a solution for I will call on the help of members of my professional backup team who I always have behind me 'just in case', because I'm only human and don't always have all of the answers. But I am confident - love them as I do - that we'll probably never need them.

We all have our own answers within us. It sometimes just needs the right trigger to get them out.

I want this newsletter to act as that trigger, together with a backup of my backup team and the resources that the Win At Your Life 4 teens web links to.

We will always find a way.

Remember this e-zine is a team effort, so join my team, help me to help other teenagers by sharing your knowledge and experience.

Hi !

Welcome to the January issue of Voice for teens. Please pass this issue on to teenagers that you know aged 16-19 or parents/carers of teenagers.

This e-zine will be written by teenagers for teenagers. It will be used to share experiences, strength, knowledge, hope and fun of teenagers world-wide.

Why voice for teens? Because I believe that everyone deserves the right to be heard. I have also learnt a lot about dealing with life by hearing the voice of others who have successfully dealt with theirs.

'What's the difference between coaching and therapy?'

Coaching and therapy are different. You need different skills for each. However it is vital that a coach knows the difference between the two and respects that the therapeutic boundary should not be crossed whilst working with you.

What do I mean?

Well coaching helps you to discover who you are now. It looks at issues in the present and your goals for the future. Therapy helps you to deal with emotional issues which more often than not stem from your past.

'Lynn - Am I depressed and what do I do if I am?'

What is depression?

How do you know whether you are just feeling low or whether you really are suffering from depression? Sometimes it is very hard to work out what or how we feel, especially when you are in your teens because it may not be something that you have focussed on before.

As a finger in the air measure, try and notice your mood level for a couple of days.

If it moves up and down, then you may just be feeling low. If it seems to be low for the majority of the time, then you may be suffering from depression. There are also other indicators of depression, but if you are in any doubt what so ever, go and see a doctor. The sooner depression is treated, the sooner it lifts.

So how can you tell if you are depressed? >>

How do I take responsibility for my own life, my own success?

By enroling on our virtual programme! Win at Your life 4 teens is a programme of twelve one hour virtual sessions designed to help you discover your own voice so that you can be heard, both by others and also so that you can hear yourself.

There are so many 'people' in life trying to influence your life - parents, carers, friends, teachers, society in general is it any wonder we loose sight of who we are and what we want, sometimes finding it the easier route to try to live up to others expectations, then being surprised when we fail to.

Win At Your Life 4 teens helps you to discover what you want and how to get it. The programme helps you take responsibility for your life decisions and your success. You make it happen.
